Fix my Chipped Teeth

If you have had a lot of dentistry over the years or been in any sporting injury or any form of dental trauma; you may suffer with chipped teeth.

It can be a huge problem with not only your confidence and ability to smile but also negatively affect your quality of life.

Inability to enjoy your favourit e foods due to difficulty chewing also means that the rest of the standing teeth wear down faster due to excessive loading and pressure.

It is important to not leave broken, chipped edges on teeth especially deep ones as bacteria can leak through open exposed Dentine ( inner layer of tooth after enamel) and over time cause an infection.

Additionally, a small chip can cause the tooth to get more decay as it is a food retentive area and ultimately break down further or even fracture if you were to bite something hard on it at an awkward angle.

Chipped teeth can be fixed with

A.-Crowns or Veneers

These modern treatments are fast and painless and can help you save your teeth for a long time! A dental crown or onlay is a tooth-shaped cap that’s placed over your existing tooth. Once a crown is placed it should look, feel and function just like any other tooth. Dental Crowns are usually needed if a patient has a large tooth which cannot be fixed with a filling treatment anymore often due to not enough hold for a filling or the tooth has weakened over a period of time and there isn’t enough structure left. However, some patients are known to have dental crowns for cosmetic reasons where they want to improve the overall appearance of their smile for the teeth to look whiter and the same alignment. We can match the crown shade to your existing teeth or whatever shade you wish to have. Depending on which part of your mouth requires crown treatment, the crown can be made from combination of materials such as; porcelain, zirconia or metal.

B.-White Fillings or Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding is a perfect solution for filling chips, fractures or gaps between teeth, or for fixing discolouration. In order to bond the composite resin onto the tooth the area is roughened to help the material set and the structure of the tooth remains intact, the overall procedure is non-invasive where a part of the tooth is permanently removed. With one appointment and little downtime you can achieve that perfect smile you always wanted with some fantastic results. Composite bonding is a resin material which is attached to a tooth surface in order to restore its original appearance. The colour of the resin is matched to your teeth which means it can be used alongside teeth whitening treatments to help you achieve a brighter, whiter smile. Patient are advised to whiten their teeth first as this allows for composite to be placed in a more natural way and to achieve a more harmonious colour overall. Once the treatment has been completed patient is able to comfortably bite down by the end of the appointment.
